POLICE have prepared their traffic plan for Ten Tors this weekend, which will be celebrating its 50th anniversary.
The area around Okehampton Camp will be extremely busy with thousands of participants taking part in the challenge, and in order to minimise traffic hold-ups, and for road safety reasons, police will be placing 'No Waiting' cones on the east side (odd door numbers) of Station Road and on both sides of Tors Road.
The cones will be put out from about 5pm this afternoon (Thursday) and will be removed after 6pm on Sunday (May 9). The parking restrictions will only apply between Friday and Sunday.
Between 6am and 7.30am on Saturday traffic flow will be restricted to one-way towards the camp up Station Road and Tors Road.
Police will be diverting traffic leaving the camp on Sunday afternoon directly onto the A30 as they have done in previous years to try and reduce disruption to residents.
There is expected to be a lot of additional traffic in Okehampton on Sunday and officers are asking anybody who does decide to travel by car to give themselves plenty of time to get to their destination.
Sergeant Lee Nattress from Okehampton police said: 'We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause people in the short term but I am certain that everyone will want to co-operate and contribute to the wonderful event that is the Ten Tors Expedition.'
