IN this time of economic austerity I would just like to make public my thanks to Specsavers and their kindness and understanding.
Earlier this month I suffered a nasty accident in the wet weather. I was outside, slipped and had a bad fall which resulted in me being knocked out and somehow losing my favourite designer 'Red or Dead' glasses.
Both my feet slipped on the wet stone crossing a stream and I was thrown up in the air before landing on my head. When I came round I struggled over to my wife who took me inside and sat me down. Not surprisingly after bashing my head I was covered in blood from a nasty cut and had to be taken to hospital immediately for treatment.
At hospital my wound was cleaned and the deep cut glued using medical glue by the great medical team at our precious local Tavistock Hospital. Fortunately the injury wasn't as bad as it could have been.
When we got home, my wife and son went outside to look for my glasses which had fallen off in the accident. Despite looking all around the glasses were nowhere to be found.
Several days later, despite feeling a bit sore, I also went out and had a look for my glasses — and again, they were nowhere to be found! I can only presume that they were washed away in the stream, which was running much faster and more powerfully than normal given all the recent rainfall.
So I was left in a bit of a predicament — a sore head and no glasses.
Unfortunately, having recently lost my job and being unemployed, I was not in a position financially to be able to pay for a replacement pair of my favourite glasses, which would cost in the region of £200.
However, this is where Specsavers of Tavistock came to my rescue.
As an existing Specsavers customer, when I wrote to them and told them about my unfortunate accident, they very kindly provided me with a new pair of the exact same designer 'Red or Dead' glasses at no charge.
This was a very nice and much appreciated gesture and I'm very glad that I went to Specsavers!
