LIFE saving equipment has now arrived in Callington in the form of a community defibrillator.
The defibrillator has been bought thanks to a collaboration between community organisations, the town council and the fire brigade, and is positioned on the wall of the public conveniences in New Road.
Initially town councillors and council staff will be trained to use the device, which gives a shock to the heart to get the heart pumping again when someone goes into cardiac arrest, but the council hopes to open up the training to as many people as possible.
Cllr Jeremy Gist, who himself has suffered two heart attacks, said: 'We are delighted to have a defibrillator in the town.
'If we continue to receive the support we have been, and the money keeps coming in, we hope to be able to buy one for Kelly Bray as well.
'It is a fantastic piece of equipment and they have a very good record of saving lives. Anything helping the chance of saving someone's life is a great thing.'
