THE team co-ordinating the Tavistock Market and Coastal Towns Initiative — now known as TaVi —is looking for people to help in different areas of the organisation. The group would like to hear from local people to represent the IT/Marketing, Community/Voluntary, Economic, Heritage and Transport sectors. TaVi is chaired by Chris Kirwin, who is already well known for organising the annual Tavistock Music Festival and being a stalwart supporter of the Youth Café and youth issues generally. Chris says of the organisation: 'It's a great opportunity to become involved with making a difference to Tavistock and its surrounding villages.' Other members of the group include Cllr Roy Connelly, of Devon County Council; Cllr Nick Morgan, of West Devon Borough Council; Cllr Philip Sanders, of Tavistock Town Council; Rob Mulliner, who represents small businesses; Caroline Keane, representing the environment; Lorraine Ellacott, of Lydford, and David Incoll. One of the first actions of the new group is to make £1,000 available to support the award-winning Tavistock Food Festival, which this year is to be held over the weekend of July 28 and 29 under a huge marquee in Bedford car park. At its next meeting, TaVi will be reviewing a range of aspirations, initiatives and projects in the area, and deciding where its support can best make a difference. Many will be familiar with the Markets, Moors and Meadows publication which can be seen online at webiste http://www.tavi.org.uk">www.tavi.org.uk If you are interested in representing the TaVi in the sectors of IT/Marketing, Community/Voluntary, Economic, Environment, Heritage and Transport, contact Chris Kirwin, c/o Canal Road, Tavistock or phone 01822 813600.
