Ardent cup Under 16s Tavistock Town 2 Saltash Youth 0 TAVISTOCK Town met Saltash for the third time in the cup after two replays. Tavistock started with a strong eleven but carried some injuries, the worst being Webber in goal with a bad arm. Tavistock?s defence were strong with Kelly leading the way. Play went from end to end and both teams looked even. The difference showed with Court and Dee on the wings being stronger and faster, and with Doyle chasing every ball breaks started to happen. Dee had a tremendous shot curling and dropping into the net but a finger-tip save kept it out. With Derbyshire and McCall on fine form the midfield was solid. Despite chances on both sides the first half was goalless. The second half saw Tavistock come out fighting and McCall battled away covering the whole pitch. Great passing and movement from Tavistock saw Doyle break through and strike a fine shot into the roof of the net. Wellard and Pratt teamed up well and also had chances on goal but it was a long clearance from Webber that Bray latched on to. The keeper cleared only to find the boot of Court who blasted the ball back into the net. To Saltash?s credit they never gave up and it was solid defensive work with Kelly sweeping up that kept them out. Player of the match: Mark Webber. Manager?s player: Simon Kelly.
