Tavistock Town U14s 1
Railway Beacon U14s 1
THIS was a game Tavistock could have won with ease but a lack of teamwork helped to make sure it was not to be their day.
From the outset Tavistock applied pressure with Lyle well supplied by MCall and Smith. After the keeper fumbled a shot Coulston was on hand to put Tavistock into the lead.
Further goals did not materialise as opportunities to play early balls into the box were not taken, and long range shots went either high or wide as Tavistock maintained what was beginning to look like a precarious lead.
The second half saw Beacon players showing no sign of giving up as Smith and McCall hit the post and the keeper made important saves from Hammond and Doyle.
A lack of composure in defence led to the equaliser and still Tavistock could not raise their game. One piece of interpassing that resulted in a corner provided a glimpse of how well the team can play but the long shots and selfish play continued with too much ball watching and little support being given to each other.
The chance to win seemed on the cards when a Beacon player handled in the box but the referee blew the whistle for full-time rather than a penalty.
Man of the match: Kieren Lyle.
