Plymouth Albion U15s girls 0

Tavistock U15s girls 61

IN this seven-a-side with five matches in four hours and a bare minimum seven players, Tavistock won three of the matches (against Plymouth Albion, Plymstock and Exeter Saracens 'B' and lost two (Exeter Saracens 'A' and Newquay). This was a creditable performance.

In the first match, Exeter A with an older team won with tries in each half. However, against a less experienced team in the next round, Tavistock ran in five tries. Newquay, followed with a close win. However the last two matches against Exeter 'B' and Plymouth Albion were won by Tavistock who maintained their skill level and rhythm until the final whistle.

The strength of running by Bronwyn Rundle, Flo Rodgers and Beth Hodgkiss broke down the opposition teams, throughout the tournament. In the matches that they lost, Tavistock allowed the more experienced teams to use width and speed.

Amy Neave was fearless in her tackling and several times caught the opponent and brought her down short of the line.

Kim Upcott maintained a solid scrum and was difficult to stop once she was carrying the ball and on her feet. The speed of Annabel Longden and Lilly Hilson allowed Tavistock to score freely against Plymouth and Oaks.

This was a great warm-up for the club tour to Salisbury and Bournemouth next week-end.
