THE first few minutes were rather untidy, with neither team running the ball or passing cleanly. It fell to Wellington to make the first break with a score under the posts. Lack of cover across the width of the pitch allowed them to score again.

Midway through the half the Tavistock cover improved and with more possession they scored two converted tries by Lily Mills. Wellington replied with a score on the stroke of half time to give Wellington a narrow lead 15-14.

Shortly after half-time Lily Mills for Tavistock broke from the pack and was ably backed up by Lily Hilson only to be bundled into touch on the Wellington five metre line. At the line out, captain Beth Hodgkiss broke through the line to score out on the left. Two further tries by Lily Hilson and Lily Mills almost took Tavistock out of sight. But Wellington came back with two break-away tries to scare the visitors and make the score a good reflection of the game.

The match was brought under control in the loose by Lizzie Crocker and Beth Hodgkiss who dominated the Wellington forwards giving possession to Lily Mills in her best game the season.
