THE SUN shone on Callington Carnival on Saturday to kick start festival week with a procession of colour through the town.
The overall winner was Flying Start Nursery from Stoke Climsland with its King Arthur exhibit — the tractor was made into a dragon with flashing eyes and smoke coming out.
This is the second year the nursery has won best in carnival and will be going for the hat-trick next year said the float makers.
The best adult float went to the Callington Twinning Association for 'The Norman Conquest' and Callington Primary with 'Glee Club' won the junior prize.
The Adult Walker title went to Callington New Outlook 'On Gnome Ground' and the junior walker prize went to 'Golden Pirates'
Festival committee member Karen Gold said: 'It was a fantastic community spirit on Saturday, helped along by the sun shining. Everyone who entered had made a tremendous effort and it was good to have such fantastic support. Now we start planning for 2014.'
