THE Okehampton Town and Country Ladies donated three cheques to charity at their latest monthly meeting last Monday week.
They donated two cheques to the Exeter and District Multiple Sclerosis Society, raising £700 with a coffee morning and a further £600 from the golden wedding anniversary celebrations of Ruby and Derek Webber. Kate Withecombe, secretary of the charity, collected the cheques.
The ladies also presented a cheque for £150 to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal following a coffee morning in June at the home of Ruby Webber. Refreshments for the coffee morning were kindly provided by Marie Cooper from Mole Avon stores. The cheque was collected by Okehampton Poppy Appeal organiser Valerie Hoar.
The Town and Country Ladies are holding their next meeting at the Ockment Centre on Monday November 21 from 7.30pm. New members are always welcome, with interested ladies invited to attend the meeting.
