THERE'S only one week left to book free tickets for Tavistock's party of the year in celebration of the Tour of Britain racing from the town on Wednesday.
Tickets are still available for the Tavy Tour Party on Tuesday evening, which will entertain the crowds with a free concert in Bedford Square starting at 4pm, headlined by Seth Lakeman and Mad Dog Mcrea, and supported by several popular home-grown bands, including The Adventures Of, Kitty and the Lost Boys, the Rock 'N' Roll Outlaws and The Needletones.
There will be a display by stunt BMX, skateboarding and in-line skate group Team Extreme, and a marquee bar will be situated in the Guildhall car park from 3pm to 10.30pm.
There will also be stalls and catering vans along Plymouth Road to entertain kids and adults alike, including a bungee assault course, noodle, crepe and burger vans and children's rides.
A park-and-ride service will run throughout Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning when the race sets off at 10am. Two fields by the football pitches at Crowndale will be used for parking and a bus will take people to and from the bus station.
There will be a small charge for parking which will go towards covering costs — any profit made will be donated to charity.
Devon County Council will be running free guided cycle rides from the Meadows on Tuesday and Wednesday with safety equipment and bikes supplied.
The Tour of Britain cyclists will set off on Wednesday morning following a procession on bikes being led by 'Sir Frances Drake' and his wife, the Mayor of Tavistock, the Rev Michael Brierley and pupils from Tavistock Primary School on vintage bikes. Tavistock College Jazz Band will play afterwards.
