St Austell 4
Tavistock A 3
THIS was a better performance from Tavistock, with more structure and team spirit wholly evident.
The game started with Tavistock immediately under pressure and St Austell moving the ball around swiftly. Without any true cohesion, the visitors soon found themselves a goal down and the home side slotting their first goal.
The same carried on with Tavistock struggling to contain the onslaught and were eventually three goals adrift.
Later in the first half Tavistock started to get their game into some order and Alex Shephard hammered in a goal to bring the visitors to life.
The second half started with Tavistock dominating play and with the young players up front taking the game to the opposition; with the passing starting to click they soon found goal another from the stick of Tom Bury.
With Adam Holland back in the side and his stamina and pace causing problems, Tavistock were dominant and Holland scored the equaliser.
Tavistock knew they could win and threw everything at St Austell, but it was a breakaway goal by the home sides play maker that settled it with a minute to go.
Tavistock can take heart from a much improved performance and build on the effort that went into the team structure.
