IT WAS with great pleasure that Okehampton Junior RFC welcomed Swanage and Wareham RFC to their club.
The touring team approached the club last year asking if it could visit Okehampton. Oke were more than accommodating and Kelly Hoggins and Carol Middleton worked tirelessly to host the day on behalf of the Oke 10s and 11s rugby squads. Sponsorship was sought and despite the economic times funds were provided by Okehampton Lion Club £100, Mole Avon £20, OCRA £50 and Waitrose £50. The club wish to thank them for whom without the day would not have been possible.
Junior rugby is very popular, it is enjoyed by both boys and girls ranging in ages, from 7s to U11s. It encourages social skills, team spirit and positive attitude.
The children love the game and its well supported by parents and family members who volunteer their time, help and support to the squads and the club. It was a most successful day. The sun shone and the children and adults thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
