A YOUNG scout from Bridestowe has claimed a prize for her commitment to the group and positive attitude to adventure and challenges.

Eleanor Turney, aged seven, has been awarded a Chief Scout's Bronze Award. The highest award in the beaver scout section, Eleanor gained her award by completing six challenges, including a creative challenge and friendship challenge. Rob Wiggins, district appointments secretary for the Scouts, presented Eleanor with her certificate.

Eleanor is one of around 50 children who are part of the Bridestowe Scout Group, formed two years ago.

The children form the beaver, cub and scout sections, and have been able to take part in many challenging and adventurous activities thanks to the formation of the group. The group is well placed to offer camps and expeditions too, with Dartmoor directly on their doorstep.
