ONE of the UK's most exciting young period musician groups, ensemble Amaranthos, are due to perform in Hatherleigh later this month.
The London-based baroque quintet comprises five award-winning Royal College of Music graduates, whose versatile performances across Europe have already earned them a reputation as sought after artists.
They are renowned for their informed and accurate use of performance techniques together with personal interpretation.
They will be performing a thrilling repertoire of Baroque music by Handel, Geminiani, Leclair, Marais and Rebel.
Catherine Hodgson is director of Concerts in the West, the organisation behind the concert. She said: 'These are extraordinarily talented international performers and I cannot tell you how lucky we are to have secured them for our October tour dates.
'They are without doubt one of the finest young groups on the early music scene.
'Through Concerts in the West, it is my aim to bring as wide a choice of top quality performers as possible to Somerset, Devon and Dorset, and to make London concert standard music accessible to people living here.'
The concert takes place at Hatherleigh Community Centre on Saturday October 15.
Tickets cost £12 each with entry from 7.30pm. To buy tickets call the Salar Gallery on 01837 810940. For more details visit http://www.concertsinthewest.org">www.concertsinthewest.org
