CHAGFORD has been named the best place to live in Britain's countryside by the Sunday Times.
The paper published its 2015 Best Places to Live guide last weekend and Chagford topped the pile when it came to living in the countryside.
The guide uses a combination of data and statistics such as crime rates, house prices and school performance combined with the expertise of its writers to compile its list.
The list stated that its beautiful 15th-century homes, community spirit and Michelin-starred restaurant Gidleigh Park took Chagford to the top of the list.
The town was also recognised for its cultural events like Chagstock Festival, Chagford Film Festival and Chagword Literary Festival.
It is the first time that Chagford has ever appeared on the list.
