TAVISTOCK College students fought off stiff competition to be successful in the recent Rotary Youth Speaks competition.
The year nine team, Marianne Quinn, Freya Chambers and Millie Kelly, beat six other teams to win the intermediate competition and Marianne and Millie also won individual prizes for best chairperson and best vote of thanks respectively.
The year seven team, Darcey Hepworth, Molly Bolding and Emma Sampson, were also in the intermediate section but unfortunately did not make it through to the next round but gave the other teams a run for their money despite being the only year seven students and by far the youngest competitors.
The college also entered a senior team into the competition, Flo Rodgers, Joe Way and Jed Coiley, who also did not get through but did not leave empty handed as Joe Way won an individual prize for overall best chairperson, despite the other teams being made up entirely of sixth formers.
Tavistock College had by far the greatest number of supporters with many parents, grandparents, siblings and members of Tavistock's Rotary Club travelling to support the students.
