LAKESIDE at Roadford Lake near Okehampton, has received its second top award within a year. The venue, which has already been awarded runner up in the 2006 Building of the Year Award, has now won silver in South West Tourism?s Celebrating Excellence Awards. The state-of-the-art conference and function centre has been recognised as one of the best business tourism venues in the region. The Lakeside Centre was established by the South West Lakes Trust. Evelyn Stacey, Director of the trust said: ?We are delighted to have won this award. It is recognition of the many years of hard work and effort by our staff and local people in bringing the dream of Lakeside to fruition. We are justifiably proud of our achievements at Lakeside and will continue to ensure we provide the best service and facilities for local people and visitors to the region.? Lakeside was supported by bodies including Heritage Lottery Fund, The South West of England Regional Development Agency, Objective Two and West Devon Borough Council.
