WELL-known author E V Thompson will be in Tavistock next week, signing copies of his latest novel, Paths of Destiny.
Set in Cornwall during the 1850s, Paths of Destiny is the tale of illegitimate Alice Rowe, rescued from the workhouse by the parson of a tiny village parish.
When the Rev Markham dies of a sudden heart attack, Alice fears for her future. But fate steps in in the shape of Gideon Davey, a 'ganger' who is laying a nearby stretch of railway line and so begins a remarkable chain of events that sees Alice and Gideon move far from Cornwall.
