DESPITE rain and windy conditions Tavistock started strongly and besieged the Saltash goal without any real success until Megan Case latched on to a flick from Grace Oliver and rifled the ball past the opposition keeper to make the score 0-1 at half-time.
In the second half Tavistock were able to keep the pressure on Saltash thanks to excellent defending from Amy Bassett, Jolene Piper and Zoe Metters. This defensive security allowed Megan Case to take a free kick from her own half, hitting the post, and Bronwyn Rundle followed up the rebound with a well taken goal - her first of the season.
Although Saltash made some attacks Tavistock were able to repel them with ease - enabling Fiona McCall to come out of goal for the first time this season for the last five minutes.
This game was Tavistock's final competitive game of their league winning season. Training continues on Thursday evenings at Kelly College from 6pm to 7pm and all new players are welcome — especially goalkeepers and strikers.
