I USED to live in Tavistock and it is much loved by the family. We visit whenever we can and still feel great pride in the town.

On Bank Holiday Monday I had occasion to use the smart ladies' lavatories near to the old court room. They were all virtually unusable and in a disgusting state.

While I appreciate it was a holiday their cleanliness had been overlooked — people there were turning away in despair.

What a great shame.

The rest of our visit was wonderful with the usual buzz of activity in the town.
