The class of 1951 from the old Tavistock Grammar School met up for their second reunion last Saturday at Yelverton Golf Club. Five years since the last reunion, 43 former pupils came from as far as Saskatoon and Ottawa in Canada. Tavistock Town Hall was the venue for the evening reunion event which was also attended by other former pupils of the school, and two teachers, Donald Sleep and Mrs Milburn. The oldest was Alan Wakley who was a pupil from 1943 to 1946. Tavistock School Reunion Association was formed 18 years ago and is open to all ex-pupils of the various metamorphoses of Tavistock Grammar School/ Tavistock School to its current name of Tavistock Community College, providing they left the college more than 25 years ago. The ?51rs? group met the following morning for a ramble over Cox Tor before rounding off an entertaining weekend with lunch at the Dartmoor Inn at Merrivale.
