U18 Cambridge League Plymstock 4 Tavistock AFC 0 TAVISTOCK gave a fine performance against top of the league Plymstock. Playing with five at the back and with a strong wind, Tavistock found themselves with goalscoring opportunities. Strikers Doyle and Phillips had good shots at goal but tipped the post. Busuttil and Francis were strong at the back and put in great challenges. Hammond on right wing crossed in some great balls and Maddock on the left caused problems for Plymstock. Wallace and Johns fought hard for every ball and at half time the score was still level. Scott was everywhere as the lone midfielder but Tavistock knew they had their work cut out against a good passing team and the wind kept blowing the ball back into their half. Superb keeping from Wearing kept Plymstock out but a scrappy goalmouth scramble saw the ball bundled into the net. They were unlucky when Wallace rolled a defender in a strong challenge and Plymstock were awarded a penalty which was smashed home. Tavistock battled to get the ball upfield but tired legs began to show. Two further goals finished them. Player of the match: Joe Busuttil.
