GOLFERS in the Okehampton area should make June 24 a special date for their diaries this summer, as the town?s police station holds its annual community golf day.
The competition, to be held at Okehampton Golf Club, will be a 36-hole Stableford competition, consisting of a three-quarter handicap allowance, the maximum for men being 24, and for women, 27.
The competition will be played in groups of three ? the cost is £20 to enter.
PC Dave Woodland said all the proceeds from the competition would be donated to local charity.
?Last year we gave about £300 to Homestart, which I believe paid for their Christmas party ? so this year, we are hoping to top that amount,? said PC Woodland.
Anyone who would like an entry form for the competition should see PC Woodland at Okehampton Police Station. Any donations of prizes for the competition from businesses in the town would also be very gratefully received.
