TAVISTOCK Chamber of Commerce and Industry is being joined by Tavistock Area Christians Together (TACT) for a general election hustings event at the Wharf arts centre on April 14, starting at 7pm.

The event is primarily aimed at members of both the business and Christian community but all are welcome to attend. In particular, businesses who are not members of the chamber of commerce are encouraged to come along. Chamber chairman Nigel Eadie said: 'We have been planning this event since the autumn and I am pleased that we have secured the attendance of the six declared candidates for this area.'

Those declared so far are Geoffrey Cox (Conservative), Adam Symons (Lib Dem), Darren Jones (Labour), Robin Julian (UKIP), Cathrine Simmons (Green) and Nick Baker (BNP).

Robert Oxborough, who is chairing the event for the chamber, is inviting those who wish to ask questions to submit them to him in advance by email to [email protected]">[email protected]

Each candidate will have five minutes to speak about their manifesto after which Mr Oxborough will invite questions in the style of BBC's Question Time.
