THE children of Harrowbarrow and Metherell Pre-school are asking the community to get their wellies on, grab some tools and join them for their gardening event on Sunday April 15.
The pre-school has big plans but not much expertise or money to buy things, so are asking the community to help.
Dawn Russell, group committee chairman, said: 'We will be planting seeds and seedlings in our new raised beds made from re-used tractor tyres. There will be something for all ages and the children will be able to take something home to grow. Our main aim is to get our pre-school families involved, but we would like to open the event up to the extended community.'
Sarah John, playgroup leader, said: 'The children spend a great deal of time in their contained garden and we would like to make it as enriching as possible for them. This will be a great community event to kick start the spring planting season.'
Any donations of plants, compost, topsoil, planters and most importantly, gardening expertise and inspirational ideas are welcomed. All proceeds raised will be put back into the pre-school.
The event will run from 1pm at Harrowbarrow Village Hall. Light refreshments will be available. For more information visit http://www.harrowbarrowpreschool.co.uk">www.harrowbarrowpreschool.co.uk
