VOLUNTEERS from Tidy Tavy braved miserable weather recently to trawl the grounds of Tavistock College, clearing up litter.

The aim of the litter pick was to offer the students a clean environment in which to resume their studies for the new year, with the hope that they would respond by keeping it cleaner themselves.

The college is already active in promoting recycling and the efficient use of energy.

It is hoped the college and Tidy Tavy will co-operate in future by setting up volunteer groups to deal with persistent litter problems and, together with the students, find other solutions.

The next Tidy Tavy day will be on Saturday (January 7), meeting at the Wharf at 10am.
