TIDY Tavi will be celebrating its 5th anniversary of litter picking in Tavistock on Saturday (October 1).
The group was originally formed by Jane Miller and Pamela Steele in response to a mounting litter problem in the town. Since then the group has grown and now makes a regular and significant contribution to the ongoing task of maintaining Tavistock’s well-earned reputation as the ‘jewel of West Devon’.
Favourable comments from residents and visitors alike prove that the work of Tidy Tavi volunteers has a genuinely positive aesthetic effect, encouraging tourism and bringing prosperity to the town.
The anniversary will be marked by a short gathering of volunteers and supporters at 10am in the Meadowlands Café where refreshments will be served along with a celebratory cake, kindly donated by the leisure centre management.
Tidy Tavi’s current organisers would like to invite all volunteers and supporters, past and present, to come along and accept a big ‘thank you’ for their efforts in keeping the group thriving and doing so much for the local community.
