A CHARITY night at Zeal Monachorum has raised £435 for the Farming Community Network and the new Devon Young Farmers' headquarters.

Alice Giles from Bow Young Farmers' Club helped write the quiz, held at the Waie Inn and organised the event alongside Georgina and Emma Davie from Newton St Cyres Young Farmers' Club.

Alice said: 'It was great to see lots of people support the quiz, with 25 teams taking part, from Young Farmers to local groups too.

'Special thanks to The Lamb Inn, Sandford for donating two bottles of wine into the raffle, and Quickes Farm Shop, Newton St Cyres for donating a cheese hamper.'

The winning team, which was ten points ahead of second place, was John's Dears consisting of Kate Jolly, Angie Cargill, Harry and John Hunt.

The winners kindly donated their prize money back into the charity pot.

Alice, Georgina and Emma will be taking part in the Three Peaks challenge in June, and aim to fundraise for the two charities through sponsorship and a future fundraising event.
