MOUNT Kelly Year 5 pupils enjoyed an exciting trip to the Exeter Northcott Theatre to see Theatre Alibi's production of 'I Believe in Unicorns'.

Organised by the school's English department, the pupils enjoyed the adaptation of the much loved Michael Morpurgo story.

Post-performance the children had the opportunity to meet and ask questions of the cast and director while exploring the innovative set and props.

One pupil said of the play: 'My favourite story in the play was the one about how the unicorns came to be narwhal whales — left behind by Noah's Ark!'

Matthew Foale, head of Mount Kelly Prep, said: 'By all accounts this was a highly inspirational and enjoyable theatre experience for the children.

'We were delighted that the Year 5s have had the opportunity to enjoy the story in class and then to experience the stage version via a West End quality performance in a child-friendly setting.

'Equally exciting was the opportunity for the children to talk to the actors and director about how things work in the theatre — on-stage and off.'
