MORE than 30 young football fans have been given professional football coaching at new sessions for three to five year olds in Tavistock.
The hour long weekly sessions are run by community coach Mark Wickett, who specialises in adapting his coaching techniques for young children.
Cllr Nick Morgan, West Devon Borough councillor for sport said: 'The borough council subsidises these sessions to encourage children to develop an interest in sport and fitness. Team sports are great for young people, and for the wider community. We're delighted that these sessions have attracted so much interest from residents.'
Neil Jordain, football development officer said: 'We're thrilled with the success and popularity of our football programmes. Tavistock Community Football Club aims to provide fun and enjoyable football opportunites for all ages.
'Now we have started our youngest group, the future of the club looks very bright. We hope that many of our Tavy Tots will move up to join our mini soccer centre in the future.'
Tavy Tots sessions run on Saturday mornings from 10am to 11am, and the mini soccer centre for children aged five to eight years will be running every Tuesday from 5pm to 6pm.
