TWO police officers from Princetown have been thanked by local councillors for the way they have raised the profile of policing in the area. PC Dave Pickles and PCSO Mark Canvin received a formal thank you from Dartmoor Forest Parish Council at its monthly meeting last week for their visibility over the Christmas and New Year period. The council expressed thanks to PC Pickles and PCSO Canvin for the work they were doing in the parish and their increased presence which was starting to have an effect on the level of anti-social behaviour in the area. Ann Inman, parish clerk, said PC Pickles and PCSO Canvin had done a great deal by talking to people and making them feel more confident. The relationship between residents and police had improved, she said. She said: 'The incidents of anti-social behaviour have reduced thanks to their dedication and their extreme willingness to talk to residents and make them feel at home with having the police in the area.' On patrol PC Pickles and PCSO Canvin attend many social events — something the residents of Princetown greatly appreciate. Council members said they were extremely pleased with the situation after years of asking for help.
