THIS year's Okehampton sports and fitness festival kicked off with a skate jam at the town's skate park last Saturday.

The event saw skating and BMX competitions as well as refreshments, prizes and DJs.

In the past the event has acted as a fundraiser for future developments to the skate park site, which was led by young local people as part of the Oke Skate and Riders Project.
