OKEHAMPTON Acoustic Club will welcome three new acts this week at their monthly meeting.

Quirky duo Ethemia from Bristol will bring their edgy contemporary acoustic music to the event.

Since their first album was released in 2012 they have played over 140 gigs across the country, including intimate unplugged events like the acoustic club, and established music festivals.

Geoff Norman from Okehampton is a maker of fine native American flutes. He will play a selection of haunting and evocative traditional melodies on some of his handmade instruments.

My Black Hat will bring their unique style — which includes the use of a washboard and a blues harp — to the club for the first time.

The Estuary Boys, a dynamic trio from Teignmouth will return to the club, and the club's hosts and founders Troubadour's Garden will also perform.

Last month the club celebrated its first anniversary.

In its first year the club has hosted more than 40 bands and solo performers in its first year, many playing their own original material, with styles ranging from folk to jazz and R and B.

The meeting takes place in the Ockment Centre on Saturday March 9.

Doors open at 7.30pm.

Entry costs £2.50 per person, and people are asked to bring their own refreshments.
