Devon and Exeter senior three

Kentisbeare 1

South Zeal Utd 4

A HAT-TRICK from Darren Gilbert ensured that Zeal took all three points at Kentisbeare on Saturday. With players missing a reorganised defence started the game well and Lee Gibert, aided by Garry Smith and Tim Sanderson, kept the home forwards quiet for most of the match and allowed Darren and Harley Cann to terrorise the Kentisbeare defence.

Against the run of play Kentisbeare took an unlikely lead when a good cross from the right saw Lee Gilbert chest the ball into the net past the stranded Reg Wonnacott as he tried to put it past the far post. Zeal were soon on level terms as Redd Cann put Darren Gilbert away down the left, Darren's pace took him past two defenders and ended with a great finish from a tight angle.

The second half was all Zeal and they could have scored many more than the two further goals from Darren and one from Jamie Atherton that secured the points.

Scott Hooper and Ben Davey were excellent at full back and this coupled with a excellent team performance gave Zeal their first away win of the season.

l Next week South Zeal are away to Pinhoe, ko 2.15pm.
