The three day exhibition and sale of work by local artists will take place in the church hall between Friday and Sunday. Two concerts will be held in the church on the evenings of Friday September 17 and Saturday September 18, with the emphasis on young person participation.
The Friday evening concert, between 7.30pm and 9pm, will be give by the Laira Youth Band.
The band was formed in 1972 by its director of music, Tony Hollick. It has seen many changes in its 38 year history but one thing that has not changed in this time is the dedication of Tony and the musical ability of the children aged eight to 18 years that he tutors.
The band has had many tours including trips to Austria, Germany and Italy.
Their more recent series of performances include venues in towns and villages from Penzance to Bournemouth.
The Saturday evening concert, starting at 745pm until 9.30pm is 'Magic of the Musicals', bringing together young singers who in recent years have entered and won the annual Rotary Young Singer of the Year competition. They are: Luke Faber singing Panis Angelicus and Softly as I leave you; Emma Staple, singing My Favourite Things and On My Own; Lottie Jones singing I Dreamed a Dream and a duet Any Dream Will Do; Amy Butler, singing Castle In The Cloud and the duet Any Dream Will Do; Sian Hoskin, performing Ave Maria and I Don't Know How To Love Him; Janine Wright with Summertime and I Could Have Dreamed All Night; and Anna Clarke, singing Unexpected Song and Pieu Jesu.
The programme is complimented with the voices of the Liskeard Lady Singers who will be singing songs from the shows under the direction of their musical director Brenda Gilbert.
Entrance is free to all events, but there will be a collection to raise funds for ShelterBox and local charities.
