FLINGING aside their 'jam and Jerusalem' image along with a great deal of clothing, six members of Kelly WI took to the stage for a ten-minute 'striptease' act at the group annual meeting in Lewdown recently.

The hilarious performance saw the ladies peeling off layer after layer of genteel clothing to reveal racy — and not quite so racy — underwear.

With strains of 'The Stripper' echoing around the Victory Hall, the act ended with a flourish of hats (always keep your hat on girls!) and strategically placed letter badges spelling out Kelly WI.

President Jill Cole said: 'We brought the house down when we did it — it was really was hilarious!'

She said there are six WI clubs in the group and each takes it in turn to do a ten-minute entertainment at the annual meeting.

Member Pearl Doherty had the bright idea of performing a striptease — and with only ten members to choose from, most of the group took part, the eldest being 74-years-old!

'In the end we all pulled together and put on a really good entertainment,' said Jill, who had a bit of a problem at one stage in the act.

'I went wrong and I couldn't get my knickers off! I turned round and everyone thought the "L" was for learner, because at that point they hadn't seen all the rest of the letters,' said Jill.

She said they all enjoyed taking part in the show — what will they come up with next?
