INFORMATION has been submitted to the Times relating to the 'Those Were The Days . . .' photo of May 29, showing a group of Tavistock Primary School pupils at Tavistock train station. The information, which was dropped into the Times' office with no name attached, described the picture as taken before a trip to Cornwall in 1965. It said: 'What a surprise to spot my school friends and myself standing at Tavistock station about to go on our school holiday. 'The photograph was taken by Mr Foxhall who led the trip. The teacher in the photo is Miss Shirley Martin who was a young teacher at the time.' The writer listed the pupils names who went on the trip as boys John Beer, Trevor Dayment, Roy Holmes, Michael Hocking, Tony Pullan, John Forrer, Philip Treseder, Michael Allen, Raymond Matthews, Michael Symons, Richard Olver, John Morris, Ian Campbell and Robin Lloyd. The girls were Jecky Robinson, Pamela Morris, Roslyn Gregory, Shelley Gimblett, Wendy Salter, Jill Hawken, Helen Richards, Teresa Hodge, Jacqueline Craze, Susan Small, Patricia Pullan, Jane Palmer, Karen Ewings, Karen Knott and Angela Saunders. The writer added: 'We spent two nights at each of three youth hostels at Truro, Phillack and Penzance. We seemed to pack in a great deal with visits to many places, including Falmouth, St Mawes, St Ives and Mousehole. 'Certain activities were considered appropriate for boys only and they visited the Holman's Engineering Museum at Camborne and the Chysauster Iron Age village. 'Meanwhile the girls did more feminine activities visiting a biscuit factory and a bird sanctuary. 'The rules for the week were clearly defined and obeyed. They included no talking after "lights out" and in the morning children will not get up (or talk) before given permission by the teacher. I remember it being a wonderful week. Just two adults accompanied the 30 children and not a yellow high visibility jacket in sight!'
