I RECENTLY and for the first time ever, parked in Tavistock's Brook Street car park. This will be my last time!

This car park is a disgrace to the town. The stairs are caked in very old dirt and debris in the corners, the handrails are cracked and filthy, landings have an accumulation of discarded litter wrapped in fluff and walls are in dire need of repainting. Lighting throughout is very poor and I dared not even attempt the lifts which were probably out of order anyway as I did not see anyone waiting or exiting them.

The whole car park has a look of sheer neglect, which is so surprising given that every week there are letters in this paper praising the town in some way or another. Is this the forgotten end of town?

Apart from someone emptying the ticket machines does anyone from West Devon Borough Council ever inspect this public area? Goodness only knows what visitors to Tavistock must think when and if they park their cars there. The whole car park is in need of some urgent attention.
