YOU would think Museum of Dartmoor Life curator Maurie Webber would be ?cock-a-hoop? following the grand re-opening of the revamped museum last week, but sadly she?s not ?crowing? because one of the museum?s best-loved features has gone missing.

The stuffed cockerel, which was often perched on top of the 1920s Bull-Nose Morris, has not been found since the museum moved its exhibits back into the upgraded building.

Maurie said: ?It was a real favourite with children. I am sorry we have lost him, as he had such nice colourful plumage.?

Maurie said the stuffed creature must have been lost at some point in the moving process.

She appealed to anyone who has a replacement stuffed cockerel they might be able to donate to the museum.

The museum is also looking for a replacement stuffed rabbit to complete a Dartmoor cottage display.
