Okehampton Argyle 3rds . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 7

AFTER an enforced break of two weeks Okehampton travelled to Awliscombe for what proved to be a continuation of their winning run.

Scott Hooper, in the first of many accomplished moves, passed the ball to Kinsey after 8 minutes for Okehampton's opener.

After a quiet period Awliscombe had a shot on goal. Then the match came alive when a cross from Evans was laid off by Stepto to W Eddy, who stroked the ball home. Okehampton continued to pressurise the opposition, and Evans scored their third when he headed home a neat pass from Morgan following an Okehampton corner.

The second half started brightly when a move involving Morgan, Evans and Stepto was headed home by W Eddy.

An Awliscombe attack saw Jackson, who had replaced Carter in goal, stand firm and deny the home team an opportunity to get back into the game.

A further change was made when Nick Cashmore returned from a long period of injury. He slotted in on the left of midfield, and Spence moved forward to partner Evans, as W Eddy retired after a strong attacking performance. Okehampton sustained their momentum and Griffiths came close to scoring, as did Kinsey. Evans scored the fifth Okehampton goal with a sweetly struck shot that flew 30 yards into the back of the net.

Although Awliscombe did pull one goal back, they never threatened Argyle, who scored twice more. Having taken on the opponents' defence, Morgan passed to Kinsey who shot home. Evans completed his hat-trick with a low volley.

Although dull at the start, this game was well won, with good contributions from all players, showing the excellent team performance that they are capable of.

Man of the match: Scott Hooper.
