Okehampton 3rds 3

Motel and Offwell 2nds 0

OKEHAMPTON, thanks to three quality goals, sealed the win and kept their 100 per cent record intact.

It was a scrappy and bad tempered opening with neither side creating much until a quick counter attacking move down the right caught

Motel napping. A pinpoint pass from Tolley to Jerome split the defence and Jerome chipped the keeper from the edge of the area.

Five minutes before the break James found himself wide on the left and with a touch of brilliance glided past two defenders and drove a right-footed shot into the top right-hand corner of the goal.

The second half saw Okehampton dominate. They were awarded a penalty which Jerome stepped up to take. His right-footed shot cannoned off the post, but the ref spotted an infringement so the kick was retaken. This time he made no mistake in scoring, but again the ref was not happy with something that was said and a Motel defender was shown the red card. For the third time Jerome stepped up and this time he blasted over the bar.

Ten minutes later Okehampton were awarded a free-kick 30 yards out. Player/manager Chris Drew curled the ball over the wall and past a stunned goalkeeper.

Motel had a chance to pull one back with a penalty, but the spot kick was wide.

Man of the match: Rob Sandercock. Goal of the match: Chris Drew.

This week Okehampton 3rds are away to Oakwood 2nds. Meet 1.30pm, school gates.
