I AM writing in concern about livestock on the road. I think it is vital people understand that farmers do their best to keep them off the road but occasionally someone leaves a gate open and they get out. It doesn't help having a bridle-path through your farm as this can also cause problems.
I often wonder why, when livestock get on the road, people drive them along the road which causes even more problems than to start with.
I thought the article in the
Okehampton Times about farmers facing a fine if livestock get on the road was stupid because farmers do their best to keep them in and with farming prices so low it's not exactly easy to go out and buy fencing wire let alone finding the time to put it up properly.
I hope that people will respond to my letter and think more carefully when they find livestock on the road.
