A SPONSORED darts marathon in Bere Alston raised £567 for St Michael?s special baby care unit in Bristol and Cancer Research. The 12-hour fundraising event was organised by the local Hair Bare Bunch and held at the Victoria Social Club. Bunch member players were Debbie Alsop. Kevin Howard, Nick and Sam Kendall and Simon Molyneux, and players from the social club were Sharon Brooks, Diane Martin, Steve Cooke, Nathan Endean and Tony Martin. Sam Kendall, Yvonne Howard and Katherine Law kept the teams going with refreshments. Steffi Molyneux organised the raffle, which raised £93. The £567 total included sponsorships and donations. The Hair Bare Bunch jumble sale on January 22 raised a further £285 and a donation of £148.62 was received from Bere Alston Primary School?s nativity in December. Other fundraising events since the end of October have included a disco, carol singing and a bazaar, which have together raised £496. The group thanked the social club, their sponsors, helpers and donors for their support.
