AFTER the most difficult season since North Tawton RFC re-formed under life member John Avery, every effort is being made to attract good rugby and excellent hospitality.
Club chairman Chris Fear, with the help of a new committee, is working hard to restore the club after the effects of foot and mouth meant North Tawton missed most of last season.
Club captain John Stone has proved his worth with his enthusiasm on and off the field. This has resulted in an increase in membership of players and social members.
However, it may need more as the requirement to run North Tawton seconds side on a regular basis is essential to the future of the club.
So, if anyone out there can help on and/or off the pitch they will be more than welcome to the family-orientated club.
After a successful start to the season under coach Danny North, losing only two games, club night for coaching and training is every Thursday from 7pm onwards. It is greatly enhanced by the new training lights around the pitch — plus, the bar is open afterwards!
The mini/juniors have also started up again and are open to one and all between 6pm and 7pm, again on Thursday.
If you are interested turn up and give rugby a try.
On the social side North Tawton has just had a successful bonfire night at their clubhouse.
Various other events are in the pipeline — the over 30s on Boxing Day and their new year's eve disco.
The judo club also meets, every Wednesday, and is popular with the youngsters in the area.
If you want to help North Tawton RFC in any capacity, please contact secretary Gill Hoggins or 01837 82516 or Chris Fear on 01837 82553. Or just pay a visit on match days or social nights. You can be assured of a welcome.
