First's TavyLinx buses, are sporting a new look for customers following a full make-over, including luxury leather seats.

Five buses on services 83, 84 and 86 from Tavistock to Plymouth, have undergone a full makeover thanks to a £38,000 Kickstart grant in conjunction with the Department for Transport and Devon County Council.

The result is a fresher, newly rebranded exterior and a more comfortable seating arrangement inside, which First's Management team hopes will lead to an increase in patronage on the route.

The buses themselves have also been equipped with on board real time passenger information displays — which link up with the displays at bus stops on the route. This means customers on the bus can get real time information about where they are, as well as handy prompts as to the next stop on the route, while those waiting at stops are able to know when their buss will arrive

Marc Reddy, managing director of First Devon and Cornwall, said: 'The TavyLinx service is already a very popular route carrying commuters and shoppers, not to mention football fans wanting to get to and from Plymouth Argyle's stadium in Milehouse, or gig goers wanting to get to the Plymouth Pavilions.

'Recognising that the journey between Tavistock and Plymouth is relatively long, we've taken the opportunity to refresh and upgrade the vehicles used.

'The addition of real time information has also been universally welcomed. We hope the improvements made lead to more people wanting to use the service, ditching the car in favour of using the bus.'

TavyLinx buses run up to every 15 minutes between Tavistock and Plymouth. For more information or to view timetable information visit http://www.firstgroup.com/devon">www.firstgroup.com/devon
