WHO owns the gullies crossing many paved ares in Tavistock? The majority have obviously not been cleared for several years, and come the ice and snow these areas will be very wet and are a good opportunity for the elderly, of which the town has many, to slip, fall, or both and break a hip, which in some instances is the final event of their lives.
Would it not be a public duty for Tavistock Town Council to issue warning notices to the responsible person, in each case, for them to clear their own, and keep it clean, or to arrange to have the work done by a proficient person, and bill each property owner, if indeed they are not in public ownership.
Surely it is the council's duty to ensure that the public's health and welfare is paramount in this case?
