THE second annual South West Forest Woodfair, being held at Roadford Lake this Saturday, July 13, will be attended by almost 100 exhibitors showcasing the many and varied aspects of woodlands in the region..

Exhibitions at the traditional one-day Woodfair will include furniture makers, woodcrafting, boat building, basket-making and environment, wildlife and forestry organisations. The full demonstration programme will include charcoal-making, heavy horse logging, steam traction engine, sawmill, yurt-making, storytelling, mask-making and rural skills.

South West Forest director Clive Thomas said: 'The Woodfair will appeal to anyone interested in woodlands and wood. The trade and the general public including woodland owners, forestry professionals, environmentalists, farmers, visitors from the South West and beyond will find much of interest at the event.'

Mr Thomas said the event would be an important showcase for the South West Forest project itself, which had recently secured more than £500,000 of funding to continue its work revitalising the woodland economy in the region.

A full range of food and refreshments will be available, and a children's play area will ensure an enjoyable day out for all.

The Woodfair event is being supported by the Forestry and Timber Association, and South West Lakes Trust. Official sponsors are Working Woodlands, Hallmark Timbers, Forest Enterprise, the Countryside Agency and DEFRA.
