WALKERS in West Devon who enjoy the woodland colours of autumn can tap into a new source of advice, thanks to a website run by the Forestry Commission.
The website gives a forest leaf colour coding from 1 (green) to 5 (gold) and includes directions, advice on good walks and bike rides and even a local weather forecast.
Bridgette Hall, from the Forestry Commission, said Lydford, and Abbeyford woods, near Okehampton, are spectacular at the moment.
She said: 'Autumn colours depend on the seasons that have come before and the arrival of the cold weather, which triggers an amazing array of colours.
'This year the colours have come very late due to the exceptionally mild weather, but at last they are finally here.'
