ALMOST two thousand pounds was raised for Hospiscare by passengers travelling in style to London last weekend. Train company First Great Western kindly donated the use of a whole First Class carriage to Hospiscare to take passengers on a day trip to London from Exeter. Anne Holland from Okehampton, who travelled with her husband John and two daughters, really enjoyed the trip. 'It was a lovely day, and travelling First Class really made it. 'We went to Harrods, which was really busy, and up Oxford Street to see the lights. 'It's a really nice time of year to visit London,' she said. Elaine Wilde, head of corporate communications at First Great Western said: 'We were delighted to support Hospiscare in this way. 'It helped them raise some much needed funds and showed how excellent train travel is for people wanting a day out in London. It is fast, relaxing and safe — what better way to travel.' Hospiscare look after approximately 650 patients at any one time, both by supporting them in their own homes and at the hospice in Exeter. They greatly appreciate all fundraising efforts throughout the year, and would like to thank First Great Western for their festive generosity.
